RUBÍ, BARCELONA, CATALONIA, SPAIN – Greg’s Barn
This video for a new line dance caught my eye on Facebook, and I quickly fell in love with the song and the dance! The song, Dancing in the Barn is just so country! It is a new song from Paula & Yayza, an indie country duo from Catalonia, Spain!
Fortunately, the song is in English. But then it gets even better, there’s also a great new line dance to go with it! Check out the 2 videos below. The first is a great demo, the second is a teaching video, in Spanish, but it looks like it is happening at the very Greg’s Barn (El Barn d’en Greg), mentioned in the song. For the step sheet for the Dancing in the Barn line dance, see Copperknob. English here.
Dancing in the Barn – Lyrics
[Verse 1] Stomp your boots and clap your hands We’re kickin’ it up in the barn tonight Oh man! Oh man! Hear that fiddle’s country sound Basic to the left, basic to the right We’re dancing in the barn all night
[Chorus] Now clap clap clap, and spin around Hit the floor, make that sound Heel to toe, slide on through It’s a party, and we’re counting on you
[Verse 2] Kick it high, then bring it low Let’s light up the barn and steal the show Turn around, stomp the floor We’re gonna dance till our feet get sore
[Bridge] So kick it in the barn where we all belong Shuffling diagonal, let the music drive you insane It’s time to start again
[Chorus – repeat] Now clap clap clap, and spin around Hit the floor, make that sound Heel to toe, slide on through It’s a party, and we’re counting on you
[Verse 3] Now clap your hands and stamp your feet Feel that rhythm, catch the beat Tap your hat, turn around Welcome to Greg’s Barn
[Chorus – repeat] Now clap clap clap, and spin around Hit the floor, make that sound Heel to toe, slide on through It’s a party, and we’re counting on you
[Outro] Now clap your hands and stamp your feet Feel that rhythm, catch the beat Tap your hat, turn around Welcome to Greg’s Barn

Every so often, I see an infographic of the dance floor, outlining all the particulars, like the line of dance, direction, etc. Here’s my version I put together a while back! And for a full deep dive into the topic check out my article: Good Dance Floor Etiquette.
In the article, I emphasize that it all starts with just being kind and welcoming to new dancers. For me that has to be the starting point for good dancehall etiquette. Be kind, welcoming, and nice to other dancers, especially newcomers!
